Early Years:
Mike grew up in the little town of Sweeny TX, located in Brazoria County Texas. From a very young age he became involved with The Boy Scouts, moving quickly through the ranks and at last in 1973 Mike Hattaway achieved Scouting's highest award. Mike was awarded " Eagle Scout" in 1973. Mike Graduated from Sweeny High School in 1973.
His first job experiences were far from his real passion "photography", these included included being a Service Manager for good ole Carroll Motor Company Firestone then in West Columbia.
But soon moved on to greener pastures and a pay raise over at Everglades Surveying, trudging past Alligators, Moccasins and hogs. By the way none of the aft-for mention phased him, but dreaded huge Poisonous Spiders and all things creepy deep in the swamps did! But he survived to head back just in time for his last semester.
The fall semester commenced right on time at Brooks Institute of photography in Santa Barbra California, where a young Mike received a BA in 1974. His course studies included Major Color Tech and Portraiture.

Mike headed back to Sweeny TX after graduation and began working in his dads studio Paul Hattaway Photography till 1980.
In the fall of 1980 Mike Hattaway Bought Hamilton Studios. He was well received by the Angleton TX community. Mike has been involved with schools and clubs as the photographer since he Bought Hamilton Studios. Just 4 years after opening Hamilton he was awarded as a Certified Professional Photographer.
In 1985 Mike decided he had the stuff to fly airplanes so he completed the ground studies and solo test(s) and was awarded is Pilots license in 1985. Never satisfied in life's quest in 2017 he was awarded a Coast Guard Captains License.

Mike is a avid in supporting the Angleton Texas community most importantly his childhood - life long passion for scouts. He is the Boy Scout Leader for Troop 531 and has been for 38 years. Helping young boys grown into responsible adults through all of the scouting programs here in Angleton and of course a stand out in the Greater Houston Counsel For Scouting. There Motto " Building boys into men of character, good citizens & proud Americans through experiences designed to challenge the intellectually, physically, morally."
In Mikes words "you have to have a good moral compass", Mike Hattaway has been and is still active in the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in many capacities. Most notably as The Warden and Jr Warden numerous times.
